At FESI, we work to meet physical needs (housing, food, education, clothing), but above all the needs of the soul (to know one’s identity, to build one’s self-esteem, to have good emotional intelligence).
This is why we undertake never to publish photos of children and young people presenting them as victims. Because they are not; yes they have needs:needs
– they have no education
– some do not have parents, others did, but they did not take care of them and made sure to meet their needs for emotional security (protection, love, respect, listening) and survival (eating , get an adequate education, play)
– they sometimes live in very precarious conditions, outside, on the ground.
But they are not victims because that is not their identity.
They are wonderful creatures created in the image of God, people who have happy plans for their lives, children who have incredible talents and gifts. They just need a boost to fill in the gaps they had. And that’s what we offer them!
